The Yfke print comes from an original hand-painted 19th century European block print that was used for wallpaper. Paper wallpaper emerged in the mid-eighteenth century and was made at that time from textile scraps, also called rag paper. After applying a ground color, the sheets are printed with wooden blocks with a pattern. A different block print is required for each color scheme. If you look closely at this lush floral print you will see that a kind of check pattern shines through. This indicates that this pattern was used to enable repeated placement of the print. With this authentic print on your bed you really imagine yourself in an old country house with high, richly covered walls. Turn over Yfke and discover the background color in plain that makes the whole beautifully balanced. To top it all off, the edges of this duvet cover and the pillowcases are framed with beautiful piping.
Cotton sateen/satin is a cotton fabric that is woven in a satin weave, which makes the fabric very supple. The fabric has a beautiful subtle satin gloss and feels very soft and smooth. The amount of threads per square inch is indicated by TC (Thread Count). The higher the TC, the thinner the yarn and the suppler the fabric. With bedding made from organic cotton sateen you will sleep like a baby! It is soft to the skin and a pleasure to sleep under.
